I just finished 4 years studying business law to realise that I should have done graphic design! Kinda sucks as Im now having to learn everything myself as i cant afford to put myslef through uni again! Ive always done a lot of art and Im now looking to convert a lot of graffitti sketches etc into graphics and eventually make some into prints. Seeing as I dont have a scooby what Im doing and even the dummies guide to said summit about smart filters which I dont completely understand i though it best to join a forum of incredible brains like yoursleves!
Im hoping I might be able to access some insight to the industry, and especially CS3 as I feel more retarded with every day that passes and with every page I read!
Right, I got a call just over a week ago from Tiscali telling me that someone had to be in between 8am and 1pm (a 5 hour margin, I know!) 10 Nov (yesterday) to let an engineer in to do some stuffness to get my shizzle working for the internets.
So, I dipped into my holiday allowance and booked a full day off, with a view to going to the bank to sort more thingies in the afternoon.
Now, as I had to be in 8am-1pm I had to take a quick 10minute shower, and couldnt go and get some milk fr fear of missing them. I was sat in the house drinking black coffee watching shitty daytime T.V. waiting for someone to show up.
1pm came and went, so at 1.30pm I rang up to chase the engineer. After 20 mins of pressing 1 for this, 2 for that and 3 to be taken right back to the ******* start I got through to someone asking all the questions that arent needed to tell me when an engineer will be on my doorstep.
Anyway, the advice was wait til 4pm - still no milk and no chance of getting to the bank.
4pm came and went and at 5 I rang back up (same ball achey faff as before, but a little longer). After 10 mins of telling them that they dont need my DOB or email to tell me where Clive the spanner man is they figured out that:
"It appears that you have been connected remotely. You dont require an engineer and therefore one wont be coming today."
I said "Well why wasnt I told? Ive booked a full day off work waiting for someone who isnt even coming?! Why didnt you call me? You have my number - thats how the engineer was scheduled in the first place?!"
They replied "Thank you for calling Tiscali, have a nice day."
I felt like saying "Ill enjoy whats left of it shall I? I mean Ive done f*&k all so far but maybe I should throw a party, do you want to come?"
